Warden Brian Elwood runs the Monmouth County Correctional Institution which is a 1,328 bed direct supervision facility. Warden Elwood leads a staff of 336 sworn officers and 46 civilian personnel.

The correctional institution houses county, state and federal inmates.  MCCI is one of the top ten largest county correctional facilities in the country and generates most of its revenue by housing federal and immigration and customs enforcement detainees.

Warden Elwood began his career at MCCI in 1987 and rose through the ranks. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself as a proven leader. Warden Elwood was instrumental in the change from a linear to a direct supervision management jail, he served as CERT (Corrections Emergency Response Team) commander at the facility, has led the accreditation team in obtaining and maintaining national accreditation from the American Correctional Association and managed and acted as the liaison to ICE and US Marshal contracts. In addition, Warden Elwood implemented and supervised the gang intelligence unit in and outside of the correctional institution.
