Statement of Organization and Purpose
PURPOSE The purpose of the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Citizens Leadership Council is to render counsel and advice to Sheriff Golden on matters on office operations, policies & procedures in order to ensure that the Office continues to embrace the County's growing diversity. OBJECTIVE The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Citizens Leadership Council will strive to more fully understand the duties, responsibilities, perspective and issues of the Office of Sheriff and to provide constructive feedback and input thereby facilitating greater interaction of this office with the residents of Monmouth County. Accordingly, the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Citizens Leadership Council will be able to function as a communication bridge between the County's diverse communities in helping to ensure that the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office provides the highest level of law enforcement services available so that our County remains a great place to live, work and raise a family. MEMBERSHIP The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Citizens Leadership Council shall be comprised of Citizens who reside in Monmouth County. Council members will be representative of the diverse communities of Monmouth County including, but not limited to, cultural, ethnic, gender, economic and other relevant characteristics of the population of Monmouth County. The Council shall have a minimum of 15 members and shall not exceed 30 members. Alternate members shall not be included in the membership number. TERM OF OFFICE The Public Information Office shall recruit, evaluate and recommend new Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Citizens Leadership Council Members. Candidates shall complete an application, shall pass a criminal background check and oral interview. Members shall serve at the pleasure of the Sheriff for a length of term not to exceed one year. Appointments shall be grouped into two teams, with service in the council staggered by six months (two meetings). Members may serve no more than 2 consecutive full terms. MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Members of the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Citizens Leadership Council are expected to attend a minimum of 3 meetings per year. Members may be assigned as liaisons to civic, business or service organizations within the County. The members so assigned shall make necessary efforts to be reasonably involved in that organization and stay informed of significant events. The member will make reports as requested respecting their assignment. 2. Members shall demonstrate professional conduct while performing their responsibilities as representatives of the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office. 3. Members shall actively participate in the functioning of this Council. MEETINGS The Council will meet quarterly, on the first Tuesday of the month unless otherwise so notified at a time and place designated by the Sheriff. Citizens Leadership Council home page
