SPA PROGRAM
(SHERIFF'S PRISON AWARENESS PROGRAM)
To expose Junior High and High School students to the realities of incarceration and expose them, first hand, to the criminal justice system in Monmouth County. To make students aware of what they risk by unlawful conduct and behavior. To show students the final destination of drug dealers and drug users. To make students aware of the professional training received by law enforcement personnel in Monmouth County. PROCEDURE: 1. Students will be brought to the Police Academy by transportation provided by the school. 2. Students will be given a tour of the Police Academy so they will have a first hand look at Law Enforcement Training. 3. Students will be given a tour of the Courthouse. 4. Students will be brought to the jail by the front entrance, met by a Corrections Officer, and then escorted to the training room for a review of safety procedures to follow. 5. Students will be taken on a tour of the jail, with Corrections Officer present. 6. Students will be returned to the training room for review and wrap-up. 7. Lunch in Mess Hall (optional). 8. Depart for return to school.
SAMPLE TOUR SCHEDULE 9:00 AM REPORT TO THE POLICE ACADEMY FOR TOUR 9:45 - 10:00 TRAVEL TO COURTHOUSE 10:00 - 11:30 TOUR OF COURTHOUSE 11:30 - 11:45 TRAVEL TO THE MONMOUTH COUNTY JAIL 11:45 - 1:00 TOUR OF JAIL 1:00 - 1:30 LUNCH IN STAFF DINING AREA (OPTIONAL) 1:30 PM DEPART CORRECTIONAL FACILITY, RETURN TO SCHOOL
